What are you smiling at?

Well I have been a little MIA for the past month or so, but I am here to give you an update on a (supa) great weekend. I had gone into the week knowing that I would be working a lot during the beginning of the week which would then lead to a Sunday off.. But as the work went on I saw an opportunity to take off the Saturday and enjoy a nice break off of work. Also opening up was a Tuesday which my softball team, which was coming off of a dominating win from the previous week, had their bye week. So I had a decision ahead of me with my 4 days off. I asked all week what I should do, but in my mind there was really only one place and one person that I wanted to see with my weekend off. So by the guidance of a fortune cookie I trekked alone to the sacred place of Tiga land. It was a fun, but solo ride out there. (you see I really like road trips, a lot) So I finally get to Tiga land and am immediately captivated by the massive stadium that sits just across the mighty Mississippi river. I wind around Nicholson street a little over anxious and finally get to the complex and sneak into the gates. I whirl around the turns and second guess myself and end up having to spin around a little. But I finally get out and stretch out my legs and am invited inside the casa. I catch up with the lovely aforementioned Mike the Tiga ;).... The weekend was off to a great start already and it only looked better after hearing of the plans for the rest of my time off of work, which included chilling. As a matter of fact it was a bunch of chilling with watching some baseball games, every night. (talk about a bomb weekend for me, hopefully it wasn't too boring and dull for my partner for this fun-filled weekend) So we watch the college World Series on the first night, a wonderful South Carolina victory over Clemson to put them into the championship game on Monday against the mighty UCLA Bruins. (GO SEC!) We missed out on the fashion show, but only because we didn't want to show up and put shame upon all of the models trying to fashion their wardrobe, because we totally rock. So then the weekend rolls along with a Dodgers vs. Yankees game on Sunday that turned from a pretty poorly fielded game to an exciting one with a Robinson Cano home run for my fantasy team!!! [which was totally called by Mike the Tiga ;)] I stick around for another day on Manday ;) by the gracious of the hostess and we get to watch an amazing South Carolina victory over UCLA, which we both jokingly said would happen but didn't truly believe it. Tuesday rolled up too quickly and I had to trek back home, I didn't want to leave and wished I could have stayed for at least one more night so that we could celebrate in the South Carolina victory that we both never thought would happen. (GO SEC!) But I cant go back and change anything about the trip and looking back I don't think I would want to. I had so much fun and want to express my gratitude again for allowing me to stay during my time off work. I also want to say that I am extremely excited for July 4, 2010 since I am having my Six Flags bubble bursted, and also want to say that I will never be able to watch a baseball game the same way. [hopefully I get to watch many more with her. :)] And that what was left behind was by far the best thing that I have ever left somewhere. Thanks again. :) :) :)

Also you may be asking why this post is titled, "What are you smiling at?" And the answer is I don't know, but to the person who asked the question I hope that you stick around with me and we can find out someday. :)

On a Jet Plane....

Well today was the day... The day I wasn't worried about until it had already crept up on me and run away without me having a say... I know this may come off as a little lame, which isn't my cup of tea, but spending this summer Han style could turn out being a little tougher than I expected. I know it has only just begun and I have 3 months to go, but they will be some tough 3 months and I will miss my bro. The one person that will do the crazy things that I do and not complain but join along and have fun with me. It's kind of hard to replace someone like that. The good thing is I don't have too, all I have to do is be patient and wait, then when my bro has enjoyed his stay in Europe and has returned back to "US" (get it?) we will be able to tear it up even more than before. We've already made plans for BR and are drawing plans for trips to Florida, Snookies, and of course VEGAS! So enjoy yourself bro, and when you return we can catch up from what we missed...

Was it worth it?

A question that I have heard numerous times over the last 2 days. Most likely you have been asked this question or even asked yourself this question (maybe as you are falling in and out of sleep while driving home from a sleepless night). I've worked 14 hours on sundays for about a year now and it really isnt too bad after you get started, it even gives me an extra day off. So I dont mind working all day sunday, but it gets tough if you dont get any sleep the nights before. I wont give out the specefic details, so that I dont get yelled at, but I arrived at broski's house friday and we immediatley took to the tennis court to obliterate some chikas that thought they could handle yours truly. After we had dispossed of the "brats" we took to wingstop then went back to the house to play some pong, which I am amazing at. The night flew by and everyone went home at 4 am. Through all the rain and exploding thunder I was able to sleep like a baby, even though my skinny butt froze. Woke up around 10 and with 6 hours of sleep I accompanied broski to eat and watch some quality college basketball. I wont get on my soapbox about my bracket since I agree with my dad that real experts cant predict "March Madness" but I will say that my champion, West Virginia, and somebody elses champion has already lost, Kansas. lol sorry just had to point that out again. But back to the question of was it worth it, you usually ask this as you are going through a rough next day after doing something the day/night before. I didn't have to drive 8 hours home, which I have decided I would rather work 14 hours than sit in a car for 8 hours through the snow. But knowing before what was going to be ahead the next day I stayed up Saturday night and drove back home at 10 on Sunday. I arrived in Mansfield a little after 11 and went to work at 12. The drive home was a blur since I was drifting in and out of sleep, but the work day was even worse because I had to figure out a way to stay awake and keep my speech from slurring. So I tried to stay awake by texting some of my friends and was asked by some of them, "Was it worth it?" and my answer for all was yes, except broski's his was only Hell YA! And I stand by that and say hell ya it was worth it.

Tim Tebow

I want to take a moment to speak of the football player, college and professional, that is glorified and sometimes referenced in the same breath as Jesus. While some may say that he is the greatest player to ever play in college football and some even say that he will be the greatest player to ever play in professional football, which would make him the greatest player to ever play the game. I have known about Tim Tebow since his senior year in high school, I am not saying that I knew Tebow just that I has known who he was, since he was being recruited by Mike Shula and Alabama. Tebow commited to Alabama initially and then a little before signing day decommitted on a visit at Tuscaloosa, along with Brandon Spikes. That day was a sad day for me, I thought at the time, because Alabama had lost the #1 overall recruit and a quaterback that would have changed the Alabama football team for the next couple of years. But poor Mike Shula didn't land him, rather Tim Tebow committed to Florida. Since then Tim Tebow has gone on to impress anybody that has followed college football, especially those in the media, and has drawn a larger crowd to the sport. For that I thank Tim Tebow, but for those who think that he is a good football player, which I don't have much experience in, I think that you are crazy. I mean I never played football and never went through what he went through to become what he is but all of the "experts" say that he isnt a sound quaterback and wont be a good quaterback in the future. So I will let their research stand here for the arguments sake. But the main part that I wanted to mention is what I saw on December 5, 2009 and have seen in prior incidents that Tim Tebow has played in a game and lost, which has only happened 7times. Now the fact that Tim Tebow has only lost 7games in a span of 4 seasons is pretty remarkable, but being an Alabama fan and apart of the I hate Tim Tebow fan club, I try to look into those loses and see something else. Because I believe that how we deal with adversity is how we define ourselves and find out who we truly are. Tim Tebow has come back and won plenty of games while dealing with adversity, but in three of the seven loses, that I know of, Tim Tebow has broken down and cried. Now after the first loss that he was "shown" crying in I was able to put it behind me and realize that it was the first time and that hopefully it wouldnt happen agian, that he would learn from that hideous showing and never cry again. But silly Tim Tebow did not, he merely did it again, this time in a press conference, after the Ole Miss loss in 2008. But the Tears of Tebow didn't make me realize how pathetic Tim is untill the 2009 SEC championship when heavily favored Florida was dominated and Tim Tebow was silenced by my Alabama Crimson Tide. Tim Tebow was shown not just crying, but bawling on the sideline during the end of the game, then a little teary eyed at the post-game press conference. Tim Tebow has a hard time dealing with defeat, but that isn't what bothers me about him, the fact that it puts his weak self to tears is what bothers me. If you are going to be the leader of a team and considered a great motivator, you can't show weakness by breaking down and crying when something doesn't go according to plan. You have to man up and go with it, learn from what has just happened and make changes accordingly. Something I have learned in my 21 years of being alive is that sitting around and crying has never solved anything, it can even make the situation worsen. Looking at Tim Tebow bawl on the sideline made me hope that their were fathers in America that were showing their sons exactly how not to act when something doesnt go as planned and you get beat. If one day I am blessed with a son that wants to play football I want my son to look at Tim Tebow and realize that you shouldn't sit and sulk about what has just happened, but to see and learn from it. To take it like a man and make yourself better. Not even the great players win every game, they are just able to accept their loss and make themselves better from it, for adversity is only good if you can learn and become better.

P.S. I would much rather have missed on Tim Tebow and gotten Saban and had McElroy throwing Bama's passes in the championship game.
